The following describes briefly all the services and information available through this office:
- Financial assistance for new or existing businesses through guaranteed loans made by area bank and non-bank lenders. The Birmingham District Office assists several hundred new and existing businesses each year by providing financial assistance through the 7(a) and 504 loan programs. - Free counseling, advice and information on starting and/or expanding a business is available through a network of Small Business Development Centers (SBDC), the Service Corps of Retired Executives Association (SCORE), and the Women's Business Centers (WBC). Numerous training events are conducted throughout the state by the SBDC, SCORE and the WBCs - some require a nominal registration fee.
- A Women's Business Ownership Representative (WBOR) is available to assist women business owners. For more information about assistance in this specialized areas, please call (205) 290-7101.
- Assistance to businesses owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals through the Minority Enterprise Development Program.
- An International Trade Specialist is available to assist businesses interested in exporting.
